I pray each and every one of you are well and safe. The news of the surge in COVID-19 cases yesterday was an unsettling one. As we come to grips with how vicious this virus is, we are reminded that we all are vulnerable to it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Guam's latest COVID fatality.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, through her press conference yesterday, mandates that we cease business operations effective noon today, August 21, 2020. We are awating for the official executive order and will share when we receive it. Once again, we are not allowed to do any physical showings or in person business activities. We will, however, ask for clarification to ensure we properly follow this mandate. This is a temporary setback and I wanted to reassure you that your GAR leadership will continue to closely monitor events as they happen. We will also take measures to ensure that we and our industry remain essential. For now, virtual tours and conducting business online can continue.
The COVID training that was held a few weeks ago has prepared us to work safely and responsibly during this challenging time. But I have to stress that despite the extensive training, safety must always take priority. Temporary loss of business cannot be compared to compromising our health, the health of our loved ones, our clients and the public. Please adhere to the governor's prescribed guidelines accordingly. We will get through this.
Our Annual and Election meeting scheduled for August 27 via zoom will go on as planned. GAR will send details on this again . As with all our other meetings, it will be filled with valuable information and engaging guest speakers. I encourage you to attend and register early.
Lastly, GAR will be keeping all members updated with news as it becomes available. In the meantime, please stay home and most of all, stay safe.
Wishing you all well,
2020 President, Guam Association of REALTORS®
